Privacy Policy

How this academic website handles information, aggregate analytics, and operational logs.

Effective date: September 14, 2026

This policy applies to barzanmozafari.com and its public pages (the “Site”). The Site is a personal academic website owned by Barzan Mozafari. Questions about this policy or personal information may be sent to [email protected].

Information processed when you visit

The Site is hosted through Cloudflare Pages. When visitor logging is enabled, the Site records each HTML page visit’s raw IP address, Cloudflare’s approximate city, first-level region or state, and two-letter country code, requested page path, and date and time. This information is used to understand traffic, investigate misuse or security incidents, and operate the Site. The Site may obtain and store a reverse-DNS (PTR) hostname for an IP address when the Site owner requests it; a PTR record is optional and is not a verified identity. The Site owner may also attach an operational label to a logged IP address so that later visits from that address display the same label.

Analytics

When enabled after launch, the Site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate visits, popular pages, referring sites, device and browser mix, and page-load performance. The Site does not place analytics cookies or use browser storage, run advertising analytics, fingerprint visitors, or use session-replay tools. Analytics data is used only to operate and improve the Site; it is not sold or used for targeted advertising.

Messages you send

If you contact the Site owner by email, the message, email address, and any information you choose to provide are processed to respond to you, maintain the correspondence, and protect the Site owner’s legal interests where necessary. Correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably needed for those purposes or to meet an applicable legal obligation.

Sharing and service providers

Information is shared only with service providers needed to host, secure, or operate the Site, including Cloudflare; with email providers when you send email; or where disclosure is required to comply with law, enforce rights, or protect people and systems. The Site does not sell personal information.

Retention and security

Raw visitor logs are retained for 30 days and are automatically deleted thereafter. IP-address labels are retained until the Site owner removes them through the owner-only dashboard. Neither logs nor labels are available publicly. Cloudflare and other service providers may retain separate operational logs under their own policies and legal obligations. Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect Site systems, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You may contact the Site owner to ask about, correct, or request deletion of personal information you provided directly, subject to applicable law and legitimate recordkeeping needs. You can also choose not to provide information by email and may use browser controls or content blockers to manage third-party requests. Requests relating to information held by a service provider may need to be made directly to that provider.

External links and changes

The Site links to external services and websites that have their own privacy practices; this policy does not govern them. This policy may change as the Site or its services change. The effective date above will be updated before a material change takes effect.
